The golden autumn of 2002 has witnessed the 100th anniversary of the founding of Hefei No.1 High School . I would like to express my gratiude to these who have cared for the development of the school.

My deepest gratitude is especially converyded to the faculty of several generations for their unshakable endeavor in establishing the fame of the school which has already been proved by tens of thousands of noble and able alumni.

The 100-year journey of Hefei No.1 High School is quite unusual , with wars, and turmoils. Yet the school abided the traditional principle of persistence, strictness, assisting the poor, awarding the outstanding, respectiong the teachers and treasuring the fame of the school , whit unifild spirit , The school survived and graduates have been serving the country , many of whom have made great contributions to China and the world. Nobel Physics Award winner Prof Yang Zhengning is an example. Today the school is observing its educational ideology , i.e Education to all and from all angles to cultivate the outstanding and presenting the connotation of the school motto for students, which is with high aspirations to become masters of the future.

Inheritance and development have become the major theme of the educational process, Hefei No.1 High School was glorious in the past , and its future will be even brighter.
